Furniture Care
Erskine furniture is manufactured largely from high quality solid timber. We do however use some man-made materials in a few of our Erskine products. As with many timbers you will notice that some areas vary in colour and grain pattern from others, this is perfectly normal and is one of the many reasons that contribute to the beauty and individuality of your furniture.

Your furniture will also "mellow" with age, this is a process caused by the action of light and air on the wood. This means that the colour of your furniture will deepen as it matures, obviously any new pieces of Erskine furniture will initially appear lighter than older pieces, but this difference will disappear as your new furniture mellows.

Try not to leave lamps or ornaments in any one place for a long period of time (especially on new furniture) as this can cause your furniture to mellow unevenly and could take some time to even out.

With the exception of our wax range, all Erskine furniture is polished using the very latest in modern lacquers. This provides your furniture with a durable finish which should only require a light dusting with a soft cloth to maintain its appearance.
To remove any sticky or greasy marks a mild solution of soapy water can be used, although ensure that all excess water is dried off immediately. Under no circumstances should chemicals or abrasives be used. To keep wax furniture at its best we recommend refreshing with a suitable clear furniture wax once per year, or as necessary (Follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully).

When moving your furniture never drag it, always lift it from the base and not the top. If moving any distance try to cover vulnerable areas such as the top and corners and ensure doors and drawers are secure. When repositioning make sure that the furniture is level as this will help the doors and drawers to operate smoothly.

As with all solid wooden furniture try to avoid placing it where it will be subjected to excessive sunlight and if possible avoid positions close to radiators.

Finally always use thick mats or similar protection between hot plates and cups and the surface of your furniture and always wipe away spillages immediately.
